CLASS PRICES START AT $50 Introduction to Computers (Beginning Microsoft Word): This course is designed to introduce the student to computers. Creating documents, editing text, and formatting documents is covered. Formatting tasks include: changing fonts, indenting paragraphs, adjusting margins, creating bulleted and numbered paragraphs. Students are introduced to the following tasks in the Windows operating system: starting and shutting down Windows; opening and closing menus; starting and exiting programs; maximizing, restoring, and minimizing windows; switching applications using the Task Bar; using dialog boxes, programs, and property sheets; arranging windows; manipulating the Desktop. Four Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Microsoft Word - Intermediate Word Processing: This course teaches productivity tools in Word at an intermediate level. Desktop publishing is introduced. Students learn to create newsletters and brochures. Skills learned include: creating headers and footers; creating newspaper style columns; inserting graphic images on a page; sizing, resizing, and positioning graphics and text in a document; adding objects to a document; using auto correct and auto text; adjusting line spacing; creating tables; and copying between document windows. Four Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Microsoft Word - Advanced Word Processing: This course teaches productivity tools in Word at an advanced level. Productivity tools covered include: creating, sorting, and querying databases; creating mail merges; merging databases to documents, labels, and envelopes; creating and editing style; sorting and calculating in tables; creating macros and templates; enhancing a table with cell borders and shading. Four Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Windows Vista: This course is designed to introduce the student to the productivity tools of Windows Vista. Tasks learned include: Using and modifying the Start menu, finding your way around your computer, using and modifying the task bar, creating shortcuts to files, folders and programs, keyboard shortcuts, viewing folders and files in different ways, creating, renaming, and deleting folders and files, moving and copying folders and files, changing the look of Windows Vista, optimizing visual effects, changing the desktop background, screen saver and Windows themes, managing your system date and time, viewing and cataloging pictures, playing music, and backing up files. Four Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Introduction To Excel: A course designed to introduce the student to basic spreadsheet design techniques. Tasks include: selecting cells; opening, saving, printing, and closing a workbook; creating headers and footers, using page breaks, page setup, editing data, creating a series, creating natural language formulas, entering labels, values, formulas, and functions; making corrections; formatting the workbook; copying data; using the function wizard. Four Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Intermediate Excel: A course designed to teach the student intermediate spreadsheet design techniques. Tasks include: using IF statements; adding and subtracting dates; using what-if data tables to make computations; using paste special to transpose data; using named ranges; using templates; creating macros; creating charts and graphs from data; linking Word, PowerPoint and Access files to Excel spreadsheets. Four Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Microsoft PowerPoint: This course is designed to teach the student the productivity tools of PowerPoint in the Windows environment. Major concepts covered include: creating presentations; understanding the toolbars; using templates; inserting clip-art; inserting graphs, tables, and spreadsheets into presentations; working with organization charts; creating and modifying color schemes; creating original drawings on slides; adding builds, sound files, and timing to slides; creating transition and animation effects. Four Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Introduction To Access: A course designed to introduce students to basic database management techniques. Tasks include: planning and creating a database file; designing tables; using a variety of data types; formatting data sheets; entering records; creating records in form view; adding and deleting fields; enhancing a form design; sorting records; filtering records; creating a query; creating a query using multiple tables; printing tables, forms and queries; windowing between objects; using advanced filter sort; sorting a form subset. Advanced Access: A course designed to provide instruction to the Access student at the advanced level in the Windows environment. Some tasks include: working with charts; presenting numeric data; working with filters; working with relationships; joining tables in queries; maintaining data integrity; using advanced form features; working with macros; using advanced report features; using advanced queries. Three Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Legal/Secretarial Word Processing I: This course is designed to teach the student legal office procedures based on actual cases and situations encountered in the typical law office. Practice in the following is offered: computer keyboarding, preparation of documents and correspondence, maintenance of office files, and application of basic communicative skills in preparing correspondence and documents. Students learn to: organize client files; prepare the daily calendar; prepare a word processing log; prepare grant deeds and land descriptions; prepare a new case report for a client; prepare and address form letters; prepare notes secured by deeds of trust; prepare deeds of trust and land descriptions. Students will also: create and prepare Notice of Lis Pendens; prepare Complaints for Damages; prepare plaintiff's initial filing forms; complete Summons; create and prepare Letters for the Taking of Depositions; prepare subpoenas; prepare wills; prepare a Petition for Letters of Administration Form; prepare a Bill of Sale. Six Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Medical Word Processing: Students will learn to prepare and format letters containing medical terminology, prepare and format history and physical reports, use common medical abbreviations and terminology in history and physical reports, apply basic communication and document production skills for medical office tasks, learn general principles for complete documentation in medical records, use auto text in a medical environment, record and retrieve a template, create, format and calculate in tables for a medical office, and use mail merge in a medical office. Four Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Computer Keyboarding I for Kids: This course is designed to introduce the student to alphabetic, numeric, and selected symbol keys "by touch" using proper techniques. It also introduces basic formatting and editing techniques. Three Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Computer Keyboarding II for Kids: This course is designed to improve the student's keyboarding skills; to teach the student to format business letters, memorandums, and reports, and to prepare the student for writing and formatting research papers. Furthermore, this course teaches students how to apply basic language arts skills via proofreading and revising documents. Three Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Computer Keyboarding III for Kids: This course is designed to improve the students' keyboarding skills. Students will learn to key 55 wpm and above with good accuracy. Students will learn to create two-page unbound reports with references and report documentation, including footnotes and endnotes. The students will learn to key resumes and cover letters using different formats. Three Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Microsoft Publisher: This course is designed to provide graphics design instruction to the beginner in the Windows environment. The student learns to use the menus and toolbars in the software. The student learns to work with font face, size, style and color; to create newsletters, postcards, brochures, letterheads, business cards and calendars. The student learns about the process of scanning a picture into a Publisher document, cropping the scanned picture, and adding text to the picture. Three Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Basic Web Site Design Using HTML: This course introduces the Internet and HTML to the beginner. The basic structure of an HTML page and publishing your Web Site are covered. Students write a simple HTML page and practice formatting text, focusing on text appearance, alignment, and manipulation of font and special characters. Tasks include: creating hyperlinks to other web pages; creating hyperlinks within your own web site; creating hyperlinks to E-mail addresses; using web page graphics; using graphic images with hyperlinks; arranging text in lists and arranging text in tables. Web Design I: In this course students will use Netscape composer to build web pages. This software allows the student to use a simple word processor type of interfact to click and create simple and effective web pages. The course objectives include: an introduction to the Internet; formatting text; creating hyperlinks to E-mail addresses and other web pages; using web page graphics; using graphic images with hyperlinks; arranging text in lists; and arranging elements in tables. Three Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Web Design II: Students will learn basic Web Site Design using HTML coding language. The course objectives include; an introduction to the Internet and HTML page; formatting text; creating hyperlinks to E-mail addresses and other web pages, graphics; using graphic images with hyperlinks; arranging text in bullet lists and number lists; arranging text in tables; creating reply forms; working with frames; and publishing your web site. Three Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Computer Photo Composition and Cropping: Students will learn the following photography concepts: Installing digital photos from a camera and memory chip to a computer; accessing photos from Explorer adn a CD; viewing, zooming, and reorienting pictures; cropping and resizing pictures; Geometry: circles, triangels, ovals, squares; Lines: diagonals, verticals, horizontals; entrances and exits; Lighting: editing exposure; shading and perspective; Relationship of Forms: size, color, light source and shadows; Portraits: subject placement and relationships; "Red Eye"; Still Life: subject placement and relationships. Two Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Basic Photoshop: This course is designed to provide instruction in basic Photoshop. Students will learn how to use menu options, resize and crop images, enhance image quality, and use toolbars. The students will explore painting and cloning, palettes, color libraries and brushes. Students will work with layers, typography, fonts, point sizes, adding text, special effects and special projects. They will also learn about saving and printing images and learn about filing by thumbnail or word index. Three Two-Hour Instructional Sessions Windows Movie Maker: In this course, students will learn how to edit, augment and polish your videos with ease. You will be able to turn unedited video from a digital camera into your own multimedia masterpiece, and distribute it in a wide array of formats. Students will learn to capture video from a digital camcorder, split, combine, and trim video clips, add music and sound to your videos, and to use video effects and transitions, narrate and add titles to your movie, format your movie for the best viewing experience.
